Infrequent Urination: Causes, Symptoms & When to See a Doctor

Question
Not sure if you can advise me on this but here goes:

Once in a blue moon I have an urge to urinate but just drops come out. I don't think I go to the bathroom per day as much as I am supposed to.
I go once in the AM - sometimes at lunch and hardly at night. I looked up symptoms of Urinary tract infection but it says constant urges and sharp pains which I don't have. Any comments?

Answer
The symptoms of a urinary tract infection are frequency of urination (urinating several times at night), burning on urination, or "urgency" which is the feeling of having to urinate but when you try to urinate, nothing or very little comes out. It sounds like you have one of the symptoms. I would suggest that you get a urine culture and sensitivity. If you have over 500,000 colonies of bacteria, you should be treated with antibiotics. If you do not, nothing need be done. I would suggest that you drink lots and lots of water.
