Early Pregnancy with Minimal Symptoms: What to Expect

Question
Dr. Rappaport,

I have been trying to get pregnant for 2 years.  On my second round of clomid, I just tested positive for pregnancy.  I am worried though because I have no real symptoms except a missed period.  I am supposedly 6 weeks along.  I am concerned because I have no noted increase frequency in urination and no excessive tiredness.  I am scared my baby is not growing or that my body is not responding to its needs correctly.  Please let me know if this is normal or not.

Thank you,
Jerri

Answer
If your pregnancy test  was positive, you are pregnant. YOu may not feel the symptoms of pregnancy  (nausea, fatigue, or breast tenderness) until later. Frequency of urination is not necessarily seen in early pregnancy. Don't worry. If you are already six week pregnant, a sonogram will show a fetus and a fetal heartbeat at this time. Perhaps you can have a sonogram and be reassured. Good Luck.
