Late Period, Negative Pregnancy Test & Ovulation - What's Happening?
QuestionHi, I am 29 years old and have been tracking my ovulation for the past 6 months, trying to conceive our first child. My last period started July 13th, and since i went off the pill in January, i have had consistent 28 day cycles every month. I have also noticed that I always ovulate later, usually between day 17 and 19. But still on day 28 my period starts like clockwork. This past month i ovulated on day 23. And it is now day 33 and my period has not started yet, which makes no sense to me. I have done Preg Tests and they come back negative. Is there a chance I could be pregnant? I was not even sure if ovulating this late lets me get pregnant but I haven't had my period which has never happened before. I am completely confused.
Thanks
ali
AnswerThe best time to take a pregnancy test is 14-21 days after ovulation. If you believe you have ovulated on cycle day #23 (August 4), and you did not get your period on cycle day #28 (August 9), then take a pregnancy test on August 18-25). Then you will know for sure. You may wish to purchase an ovulation preductor kit from the pharmacy to help pinpoint the exact day of ovulation each month. You should have intercourse from the day prior to ovulation up to four days after ovulation. Good Luck.
