Pregnancy and Kidney Failure: Risks & Questions to Ask Your Doctor

Question
I am a 24 year old, with a 7yr. old daughter and a 5yr. old daughter. I am currently pregnant(7-8 weeks along). The doctors told me this by doing blood work. My first 2 kids have the same father but I'm pregnant with a different father on this one and he has kidney failure and goes to dyalisis 3 times a week. I was wondering if my baby may have problems? Do you know the right Questions I might ask my doctor? Or any web sites where I might find some information? I have not been able to find anything yet and I have searched and searched. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

Answer
Your baby will not be affected by the fact that the father has kidney failure and is on dialysis. Kidney failure is not a genetic disease. Most patients with kidney failure have Diabetes or Nephrotic syndrome. The baby that is growing in your uterus has not reason to have any kidney disease. Don't worry.
