Abdominal Flutters: Pregnancy or Something Else? - Expert Advice

Question
I HAVE TWO GIRLS,IN JAN.2005 I DELIVERED MY SECOND CHILD AFTER HAVING AN ETOPIC PREGNANCY AND ONE OF MY TUBES HAD TO BE REMOVED AFTER RUPTURING IN JUNE 2004,NOW I AM HAVING FAINT FLUTTERS IN THE LOWER ABD. AT VARIOUS TIMES THROUGHOUT THE DAY HAVE NOT MISSED A MENSTRAL CYCLE BUT WAS WONDERING IF THIS WAS A SIGN OF BEING PREGNANT.

Answer
Dear Nicole,

Usually the "flutter" feeling that you get while pregnant does not occur until approximately the 15th week of pregnancy.

Symptoms of early pregnancy typically include swollen/tender breasts, nausea, headache, low backache, and urinary frequency (usually after the 8th week or so).

Sometimes air shifting in the abdominal cavity or intestinal movement can feel very similar to the fluttering feeling women experience when pregnant. This may have been what is occurring with you recently.

If you do miss a period or begin to have any other symptoms of early pregnancy, go ahead and test. But at this point, I would suspect that you are not pregnant, based solely on this symptom.

I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
