Mucus Plug & Labor: What to Expect at 37 Weeks

Question
I am 37 weeks and one day pregnant with number 2. My mucous plug has been falling out for a week or so. But in the last few days it went from thick and mucousy to very thin with a little bit of blood in it. Yesterday and today both I have had some watery discharge. Like my underpants are wet all day if I dont have a pad on. I haven't had any contractions that are painful in fact I havent noticed any contractions. I was just wondering if this is normal or if I should see my doctor. The baby is low but tends to engage and disengage a lot throughout the day. I would greatly appreciate some advice. Thanks

Answer
Hello Kayann. This is all quite normal for late pregnancy. To encourage baby to find a good position- he is moving up and down likely because he(?) doesn't like the position his head is in when he is low in the pelvis- I encourage you to sit tailor style on the floor with your belly hanging down in front of you. NEVER sit in a recliner chair!!- it almost guarantees a baby in a posterior position which results in long, difficult labors. Whenever you relax to watch TV- get on the floor in a tailor sit from now until birth. Hope that helps- Cheri.
