Understanding Endometrial Hyperplasia & Hyperplastic Polyps: What You Need to Know

Question
Hi, I have been absolutley scared senseless since i got my lab results back, have seen two doctors and they wont set down and talk to me and they have told me different stories.  I cant seem to make out my results. Is there any way that you can tell me if i am still able to have children, or if i have precancer or cancer ect.  I really just need some answers on definitions really.  I even tried disecting the lab results word by word from the dictionary to see if i could put it together, here are my experience.  i have never had a period that was regular, i went two years in a row for pap and they were normal then for about 3 years or so i became agoraphobic and couldnt get to the gyno, anyways, i had problems bleeding after intercourse (i have been married for almost nine years, no children yet, have not been trying yet either) anyways last year 2004, I had a cervical polyp which was sent off and was benign, i understood that lab reult because it just had BH for benign i guess, and said polypoid segment of soft tissue measuring 1.1 cm in greatest dimention.  Diagonosis was Endomtrial Polyp (ok i guess im confused here because this was suppose to be a cervical polyp? anyways was benign doctor sent me with a prescription, and i found out it was birth control pills, well, i didnt know what really was i to do? so i didnt take them, (again lack of communication)  ok i went back for my annual, and they found another cervical polyp is what the doctor called it, and it was about three times the size of last years and also he mumbled something about tissue and blood clot, so i left the office clueless really, they called me in to see the doctor a different one, and i got no answers.  Really all i want to know is what my lab results mean.  Here is in entirety my lab results:

Source: Cervix: Polypectomy  Gross Description- Speicmen is received tan polypoid nodule of skin measuring 3.2 cm in greatest dimention.  Specimen serially sectioned.  6 in 3.  Totally Submitted.  Micro Discription- Sections show polypoid endometrium composed of numberous hyperplastic glands, some with dilatation, others with mild branching.  Squamous metaplasia is present in a few glands.  Diagnosis: Endometrial Polyp with Squamous Morules... Ok on this one i am totally confused,  it was a cervical polyp however ended up being an endometrial polyp with squamous morules, what are squamous metaplasia, or squamous morules, and hyperplastic glands ect, is this really really bad?  Ok on the Endometriom Biopsy it says tan to red brown soft tissue, mucus and blood clot aggregating to 3.0 cm.  On this micro discription it says Sections show fragments of endometrium, some of which are polypoid. There is diffuse moderate increase of glands, some of which are dilated.  Some glands have mild branching.  In some areas, glands are almost back to back.  There is no cellular atypia.  Diagnosis: Hyperplastic endometrial polyp.
Simple Hyperplasia without Atypia.  I dont understand all the micro descriptions i'm so scared that im just well lets just say my blood pressure is up.  I just would like a breakdown of my results and if they are extremely bad ect. thanks so much and any  help you can give me i'll tell you, it is VERY  much appreciated.  Thank you so much :)

Answer
You have nothing to worry about. All your reports appear to be within normal limits.  It is quite common to have an occasional cervical or endometrial polyp. This is usually removed in the office or via D&C. A hyperplastic polyp is merely a polyp that has lots of cells. As long as it was benign, you need not worry at all. The difference between a cervical polyp and an endometrial polyp is merely its location. A cervical polyp is found in the cervix (usually sticking out into the vagina). and an endometrial polyp is a finger-like projection into the cavity of the uterus). Cervical polyps can grow back often and they are almost always benign. They are easily removed in the office and, as long as they are benign, you should not worry. They can be large or small. You had cervical polyps with squamous metaplasia, which is normal.  If there were signs of "dysplasia" that would be worrisome. Metaplasia is normal. Metaplasia is merely normal growth and change of cells. In the vagina, at the cervix, there is a "transformation zone" where the squamous cells of the vagina meet the columnar cells of the cervix. By pressing on each other, the sqamous cells become columnar cells, and the columnar cells become squamous cells. This process is called "metaplasia". It is completely normal for this to occur.  It does not matter if you had a cervical polyp or an endometrial polyp. They are both not dangerous at all. Your endometrial biopsy was normal. The report just described the cells and the glands, which sound perfectly normal to me. There was no cellular atypia, which means there was nothing out of the ordinary. There is nothing out of the ordinary in any of your reports. Stop worrying. YOu do not need to do anything.  (By the way, there is no such term as "Morules". It must have been a misprint.
