Lifting After C-Section: What's Safe?

Hi,

I had a cesarian 18 days ago without complications.
My ob/gyn saw me today and told me to resume my normal activities, including that I could now lift my older kid (who weighs 29 pounds).
To me this sounds a little too soon.
Could you comment on this?

Even after major surgery, we never restrict the lifting or cuddling of other children. For the first week after a cesarean section, we restrict stairs, lifting, and driving. For the first six weeks, no vaginal activity or baths (you can shower). You should not resume sexual intercourse until our post partum visit. Other than that, you can resume all your normal acitivities including liftinig your older child.
