Restoring Lapis Lazuli: Can Scratches Be Buffed Out?
QuestionI have found some older lapis jewelry that I want to "recycle",but a couple of the lapis stones are scratched, Is it possible to buff out the scratches, or do I need more expertise?
AnswerJudy,
Lapis is a little tricky. You need a flat lap charged with 14000 diamond powder and some crystal lube. First you have to sand out the scratches using 600 grit sand paper on a belt or a disk. I use flat disks for everthing. After 600 use 1200 then the 14,000.
Other people may have other methods this is what works for me.
