Ovulation After Miscarriage: Tracking & Cycle Recovery
QuestionHi, I asked a question of you the other day. I appreciate the answer. I have another question if you have time. I am 23, I had a miscarriage on the 1st of Jan. I stopped bleeding/spotting on the 6th and had no bleeding since. I started spotting again on the 21st. I had believed that I ovulated around the 14th/15th because of my cervical mucus and cervical position. After about the 16th my mucus dried up and I again became dry. I was not testing for ovulation with the tests until after this time. When I started spotting on the 21st, I thought maybe this was implantation bleeding, however on the 24th the ovulation test which had been negative became positive. It was positive again on the 25th, and again on the 26th. I tested today and it is now negative. The hpt I took on the 26th was negative. I am confused because I believed I already ovulated, and when the ovulation test tested positive I was not having fertile cervical mucus and my cervical position was low. The spotting has been very light and brown, it is still there today but much lighter. I know you said that you recommend waiting after a cycle before trying again, but my OB said that it was alright for me to try again now and if my body was not ready I would not get pregnant.Looking at this information when do you believe I could have ovulated? When should I test for pregnancy? Any indight would be helpful as I am very confused. I also had heard that an ovulation test can become positive if a person is pregnant, I wondered if I ovulated on the 15th than would the ovulation test be showing I am pregnant when the hpt test does not. Thank you so much for your time. I appreciate your help.
AnswerAn ovulation test does not indicate pregnancy (ever). It merely shows the release of LH (Luteinizing hormone) which inidicates that ovulation has occurred. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after missing your next period. If you had the miscarriage on January 1, you are due for your next period on January 28, Uf you do not get your next period by February 5, take a pregnancy test and you will know for sure. Once you get back to regular cycles, ovulation usually occurs on cycle day #14 and you can conceive if you have sex on cycle day #13, 14, 15, or 16. Try using the ovualation predictor kit on those days to try to pinpoint the exact day of ovulation.
