QuestionI am 33yrs old, 2 daughters 16 and 9 just had a miscarriage 02/12/06 that was about my 20+ miscarriage, I have Anticardilipin Antibody Syndrome.
I have been taking 60mg Lovenox 1x aday, pre-natal,folic acid, vitamin B-6 and B-12 and 81mg of asprin everyday sice 10/05.
I had my Dr put me on Crinone 8%(progesterone suppositories) I read that women who have recurrent pregnancy lose should use this, I was also told that these suppoistories can interfere while trying to conceive.
My two questions to you are, Is there anything else I can be taking to help carry and have a successful pregnancy? And also can this suppositories interfere while I am trying to conceive? I'm sorry I have one more question, how long should you wait after a miscarrigae before trying to conceive?
Thank You so much Dr for your time.
AnswerAfter a miscarriage, as long as you are emotionally O.K., you can start trying to conceive right after you get a normal period. If you have the antiphopholipid syndrome with anticardiolipin antibodies, or any evidence of Lupus, it is a good idea to take Lovenox (or Heparin) throughout the pregnancy. You should also take baby aspirin, folic acid, and antenatal vitamins. If you have a low level of progesterone, progesterone supplementation may help prevent miscarriage. Crinone can be taken while you are trying to conceive (every day) and, once you conceive, you should continue it until 12 weeks gestational age, at which time you should stop. At 12 weeks, the placenta takes over the maintenance of the pregnancy. Good luck to you.
