Understanding Basal Body Temperature (BBT) After Miscarriage

Question
20 yr old. LMP Jan 3, 2005 0 children Miscarriage on Aug 16, 2005  D&C on Sep. 9, 2005

Since my Mc i have have slightly normal periods every 48 days, but I have also been taking my BBT every day at 5 a.m. I bought a special BBT thermometer. It have always said 96.?  the Highest it has went is 96.97. Well I thought that they was always LOW, so I tryed a regualr thermometer the same day as the BBT one. At 5 a.m. my BBT thermometer said 96.27, 4 minutes after it beeped i put the regular one in and it said 97.5  I was still in bed and had never moved my position. After I got out of bed I took it 10 minutes later after I was up walking around and it said BBT-96.84 and regular-97.9.  my question is are they supposed yo be THAT different in numbers? Which one should be right?

Thanks,
Shannon

Answer
The basal body termometer only regsters from 97 degrees to 99 degrees and is divided into tenths. You have to plot your temperature every morning on the graph paper to see if there is a "biphasic curve" at mid cycle to see if and when you are ovulating. Usually, just before ovulation, there is a slight dip in the graph and then it rises. You cannot use a regular thermometer to check your BBT. They are not comparable.
