Concern Regarding Potential Pregnancy After Unprotected Sex

Question
Thank you for your response so soon. As for the unproteced sex, we had sex for 1-2 min. maximum without a condom.  I know there is still a chance for pre-cum to cause her pregnancy and that is really the only thing i am worried about.  After those first 1 or 2 min. i put a condom on and we continued having sex. Also the reason she got off of the pill is because we broke up for a month and she didnt think she would need it since she was not planning on having sex anytime soon.  Could her restarting the pill be the cause of a somewhat uncommon (with her) period? and i also forgot to mention that we didnt have sex until about a week before she started back on the pill, im not sure if that matters but thank you for your information. anymore info you have will be greatly appreciated.

I am writing this for my girlfriend. I am 20 and she is 18. We have no children. The date of the first day of her last period was Feb. 9.  My girlfriend was on birth control (ortho tri-cyclen) for over a year, then she quit taking it for about a month. She was off of it from apprx. Jan. 5 until apprx. Feb. 5. It is now 4 weeks and 3 days since her last cycle started. She has always had regular cycles. She took a home pregnacy test yesterday and it came back negative, on the 8th of February her discharge had a light pink color mixed in with it, which made her think she was starting. It only lasted for a day. Two days later on the 10th she had two red spots, that was the only thing that happened on that day. Then again, two days later, she had more spotting but it was a brownish, red color, and now there is nothing. For the past 4 days she has not been feeling well. She has been urinating more than usual. She is suffering from headache and stomachache, also her back and neck have been bothering her. I was just wondering if this was at all normal or could there still be a chance that she is pregant?
Answer -
If she stopped taking the pill on January 5, she could have ovualted and could have become pregnant if she had unprotected sex.  The bleeding (spotting) she noted on February 9 was probably her period. The brownish staining is usually due to some "old" blood that is being extruded from the uteru. As long as the pregnancy test was negative, she is not pregnant. The earliest signs of pregnancy are breast tenderness, nausea, or fatigue. Frequency of urination may indicate a urinary tract infection  or bladder infection.Heacacne or stomachache is not a symptom of pregnancy. If you have any doubts, take a blood test for pregnancy (Beta HCG). If it shows an elevation, you will know for sure. Did she stop the pills because she wanted to become pregnant? If not, there is no reason to stop the pills.

Answer
As long as she was taking the pill, she could not have become pregnant. If she ovulated during the time she was not taking the pill, she could have conceived if ANY sperm got into her vagina during her fertile period (one day prior to ovulation  until two days after ovulation). I doubt that she is pregnant and I believe that the bleeding and spotting was her period. Starting the pill will not cause the type of bleeding she had. Even if you broke up, she should not have stopped the pill. The pill prevents ovarian cysts, pelvic inflammatory disease, iron deficiency anemia, cancer of the ovary, cancer of the uterus, colon cancer, acne, in addition to being 99.9% effective against pregnancy. It is unlikely that she became pregnant if she was on the pill for a week. Don't worry.
