QuestionWhile my HCG did double under 24 hours, my progesterone, which they only drew once was just 2.3.
I have started crinone 8 %. The spotting that I had has completely stopped. I am now approaching the 7 week mark.
I have three questions: I have for the last week developed fairly intense morning sickness. So question one is, is there any legitamacy to morning sickness as an indicator of a healthy pregnancy?
My second question is about the crinone. Would the crinone keep me from bleeding if I did miscarry. In other words, in the presence of crinone do you all but guarantee that a miscarriage will be a "missed" miscarriage and you'd only discover it via ultrasound as the supplemental progesterone would sustain the uterine lining?
Lastly, do you know of any studies, any research articles that I could read that reference succesful term pregnancies with progesterone levels this low? To date I can only find information stating that a progesterone level that low typically indicates a non viable pregnancy. Would this pregnancy be categorized in the section under "medical miracle" to have a positive outcome? My OB is very tight lipped and really not giving any ideas on prognosis either way.
I have a transvaginal ultrasound on Monday which will be 7 weeks 1 day, I know a lot more will be revealed then, but it is going to be a long wait. Any education you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
AnswerI know of no viable pregnancy that progressed with such low progesterone levels. Crinone or progesterone suppositories given during the pregnancy has helped increase the patient's progesterone level to an acceptable level in order to lower the risk of miscarriage. The progesterone does not mask a miscarriage, nor does it "hide" the bleeding. Morning sickness is common furing early pregnancy but is not necessarily an indicator of a healthy pregnancy. If you have morninig sickness and it suddenly stops, it is usually not a good sign.
