Amniotic Fluid Leakage & Pregnancy: What You Need to Know
Questioni am currently 20 weeks , and this is my second pregnancy I am a diabetic have been for several years is it possible for dehydration to cause losss of amniotic fluid. thanks, melissa
AnswerMelissa,
Dehydration won't cause loss of amniotic fluid. However, it can cause contractions and premature labor. Your uterus is a muscle and when muscles don't get hydrated, they cramp...like when you are running and you get a side cramp. So, your uterus is the same way. Just make sure you are getting plenty of fluids. Your baby is tucked away in his/her nice little bubble and he/she is making his/her by swallowing the fluid and excreting it. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions.
