QuestionI was in for a vaginal ultrasound, and the ultrasonographer saw some , what she called "uterine bleeding." Eight months ago I had a miscarriage ,last October, and I then had uterine bleeding as well. They told me last year that it would probably be okay, they checked my progeterone, and it was normal. I miscarried 4 weeks later at 11 1/2 weeeks. So, of course , when I heard this today, I immediately worried. She informed me it would probably be fien and it would resolve itself. Then, I saw the doctor immediately following, and she said the bleed was coming from the placenta, and was not in the uterus or sac, and would not effect the baby. She said that everything would probaly resolve itself, too. After miscarrrying last year, I am still worried. Is this normal? Everything else looked great, just like last year! She said the baby would only miscarry if it was cromosomal like last time, that the bleed had nothing to do w/ it.True? Common?
AnswerRachel,
We see subchorionic hemorrhage, or "uterine bleeding" fairly often. It is a common problem and most of the time, it does resolve itself. However, I understand your concerns since this has happened to you before. Have they checked your progesterone this time? It may not hurt to take progesterone anyway just because of your history of miscarriage. I think as long as the baby looks okay, and you were able to visualize a heartbeat, the chances of miscarriage are less than 15%. I hope this helps! Good luck!
