QuestionHi, I am about 7 weeks pregnant. My right lower side of my abdomen feels like there is a tennis ball under the skin - it's not painful but it worries me that my lower abdomen is not symmetrical. Is it something I should worry about or is it normal? Thank you so much.
AnswerHi Clotilde :)
At 7 weeks, if anything the most you would have right now is a pot belly. A tennis balls like bump, is not normal to be feeling, especially, when you indicate that its visable on only one side of your abdomen.
I dont think this is related to the baby your carrying directly. I have a feeling, that this could be a ovarian cyst, or something of that nature. Often, ovarian cysts go unnoticed, and undiagnosed because many women do not have symptoms of having the condition. But they can grow to be very large in size. Infact, some women whom have had them removed, have had 8-12 llb cysts.
This is definately something that should be examined though. Remember, I am not a doctor, and I only made judgements on what people tell me. The bump could easily be something else as well.
Quite often, ovarian cysts will grow rapidly when a woman becomes pregnant. Hormones play a role, and seem to make some cysts just thrive, and grow rapidly.
Infact, with my second baby, I had a c-section. When the doctor gave was giving a tubal, after his birth, she noticed an ovarian cysts, the size of a grapefruit. I had it removed, but it went completely unnoticed, and undiagnosed for God knows how long. She went back and looked at my early sonograms, and it wasnt there, or it was to small to see. But in the 9 months of my pregnancy, it grew very rapidly, and consumed my whole right ovary.
Hope this answers your question, if you have any more concerns, please done hesitate to write back and I will help you where I can :)
Sorry my answer is so vague, but its a hard call. But its definatly something that you need to have evaluated :)
Thanks for writing :)
