Ovarian Function & Fertility: Can You Get Pregnant with One Ovary?

Question
Is it true that you can get pregnant w/o your left ovary and tube but not w/o your right ovary?

Answer
Dear Justine,

No, this is not true.

Most often ovaries "switch off" releasing the egg each month. However, if one ovary/tube is surgically removed, the other ovary will take over and release an egg each month.

I hope this answers your question and I wish you well! Happy Holidays!
