Reflexology & Massage: Addressing Numbness After Thai Foot Massage
QuestionHi - i hope with all your years of experience you can help. I am reflexologist, no knowledge of massage, and hold a Thai Foot Massage cert which covers rigorous massage of feet and legs/calves. My client responds well to reflex but Thai has left her legs and feet numb with no feeling. Can you help. I have emailed the person I trained with also. thank you sarah
AnswerGood afternoon Sarah. Thank you for your question. I have to choose my words with care here. If you client has numb feet and legs-do not attempt any further treatments. Advice the client in the strongest terms possible to see a doctor immediately. The human body relies on the pendulum swinging motion of the legs to assist with blood flow back to the heart. Think about what I have just told you. If the client's legs and feet are numb-what is not happening? If I have alarmed you-good. That is why I want you to act immediately.
I have to advise you also-that this question is way outside my field. I would be happy to be corrected by a doctor after professional assessment. Please obtain a second opinion from a doctor-rather urgently.
I doubt that I have done little more than scare you Sarah. Also, I doubt that I have answered your question. But, if I have scared you into seeing a doctor-that is all the good I could possibly hope to achieve. You are welcome to contact me again if you wish Sarah. Good Luck.
Cheers from New Zealand and Season's Greetings.
