IUDs and Condoms: Can an IUD Damage a Condom?
QuestionCan an iud poke a hole in a condom?
AnswerDear Laura,
No. Not a properly placed one anyway. Unless the IUD has become dislodged and is being expelled by the uterus (which you would usually know), then no. The cervix (opening into the uterus) typically remains closed in young, unpregnant females and is a barrier to the outside. As long as you can still feel the string and it doesn't feel as if it has moved or lengthened in any significant way, I would not be concerned about the placement of the IUD.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
