QuestionI have not had my period in 6 -7 weeks and looking on the website for symptoms of pregnancy, I come to realize that I do have have these symptoms. My question is, if I have a very faint, light, light pink discharge only when I wipe after urination, NOT SPOTTING, and NOT during I urinate,...if I take a pregnancy test, can that alter the results?
AnswerDear Delilah,
No, this will not alter the results of a pregnancy test. HPTs test for the presence of a hormone (hCG) only found in urine (or blood, for that matter) during pregnancy. Infection or blood in urine will not alter the results. Make sure to use 1st morning (upon waking) urine to get a concentrated sample and the most accurate results. If you can't do a 1st morning test, try to make sure the urine has been in the bladder at least 4 hours and is not overly diluted.
I hope this helped you and answered your question. Please write again with additional questions. Have a happy Christmas season!
