Feeling Movement at 12 Weeks? Is This Real?

Question
When is the soonest you can feel the baby move? I am 12 weeks. Today after lunch I was sitting at my desk at work, I felt a vibrating type feeling above my pubic bone. It lasted for like 2 seconds, then a few seconds later the same thing happened, then it stopped. I read that the soonest you can feel the baby is 14 weeks, but this felt just like the "fluttering" that is described. Could it possibly of been the baby?

thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi Cindy :)

It is said that ladies will begin to feel movement between 4-5 months.

You are only 12 weeks, and it is pretty early. However, even at 12 weeks, your baby is moving, and spinning around in your uterus. To say that what you felt was not your baby, is impossible.

You very well, could have felt what I call "Butterfly Flutters" from the little one moving around in there.

It also, could have been gas bubbles, which often can resemble the flutters. But only you know your body, and you would know what is gas, and what is not gas.

Considering that the sensation you felt was low, and around your pubic bone, I would be more inclined to say that you have indeed felt the extremely early sensations of your baby, that most would have not noticed.

Next month, its only going to get better :) You will begin to feel more definate kicks, and rolling.

Hope this answers your question, and thanks for writing!
