Understanding 70% Effacement & -1 Station: What to Expect During Labor

Question
i have not dialated at all yet the babys head dropped im 70% effaced and at a -1 station how long u think it will be till i have my lil angle here?

Answer
Dear Stacy,

Unfortunately, that is impossible to predict. I really wish I could tell you, but babies have their own time tables. And other factors, such as whether you are a first time mom, if you've had any Braxton-Hicks or other contractions, etc,.. will affect when you deliver.

The good news is - you have already made a lot of progress! Effacement usually happens before you really begin to dilate and you are already 3/4 done thinning out! And -1 station means the baby is already engaged into the pelvis and putting plenty of pressure on that cervix, so things will continue to move right along. If I absolutely had to guess, based on this information alone, I'd say you may have a Christmas Eve baby. MAYBE the 23rd.

Hope that helps. I wish you a truly blessed delivery and the merriest of Christmases!
