Cervical Length in Pregnancy: What's a Normal Measurement?

I ask my dr. about incompent cervix and she said in the last u/s they measure your cervix and mine was actually long -  6cm. Is this a bad or good thing? My EDD is 08/19/07 I'm currently 22wks pregnant.

Dear Candy,

It is neither good nor bad at this point. It just means that you are not at risk for an incompetent cervix due to cervical length. Those with an incompetent cervix are at risk for pre-term deliveries because their cervix begins to efface (shorten or thin out) prematurely.
