QuestionHi.
I get irregular periods since the beginning. It was very hard for me to get pregnant. But some how with shots and medication i conceived and have a premature baby boy. He is 23 weeker. My pregnancy was very complicated. Now still i have my period problem and wanna get pregnant again. This time i am hoping for a normal pregnancy. What should i do please advice. Thanks.

AnswerDear Sandy,
Unfortunately, with irregular menstrual cycles, it becomes extremely difficult to predict when you ovulate and thus, when you are fertile.
Getting pregnant again without any medical intervention will probably be very difficult unless you intend to have sex just about every other day between every period until you conceive. You can try taking your basal body temps and tracking them to try and determine when you are ovulating and fertile. You can also purchase an Ovulation Predictor Kit to help determine when you are about to ovulate. They are available at most large pharmacies or drug stores or online. If you are able to determine when you ovulate, then it is possible to have sex during that week to try to conceive.
Depending upon what interventions were done to enable you to conceive in the first place, this may or may not work for you. You still may need to have progesterone or some other intervention to try to maintain a pregnancy, depending upon what your particular situation is.
I would suggest that you have a conversation about this with your doctor or fertility specialist. See what the particulars were and if they think that tracking your temperatures or buying an OPK will assist you in any way in attempting this independently given your own situation.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well and good luck!
