Understanding Cervical Mucus and Ovulation: A Guide

Question
I had the egg white and stretchy lubricative discharge about a week ago. This is day 26, I am normally 28 day cycle. I just had more egg white today. Does this mean I ovulated twice? Didn't ovulate? Is it possible that I am pregnant if this is happenening? Wanting so badly to be pregnant after miscarriage 2 months ago. had a normal 28 day cycle last month.

Answer
Dear Nichole,

The stretchy, egg white consistency cervical mucus typically indicates ovulation. If you experienced it approximately one week before CD 26, or around CD 18-19, it probably means that you just ovulated a bit late in that cycle. That is really ok and nothing to panic about. If you just had a miscarriage two months ago, your hormones are trying to get back on track.

If you were having unprotected sex during the time that you were experiencing that egg white mucus, you may have conceived. You will simply need to wait and see whether you get a period in the next week or so. If you did ovulate later in the cycle, you will likely see a later period as well (unless you conceived).

I would suggest waiting about 10 days and if you have not had a period by then, go ahead and test for pregnancy. When/if you test make sure to use 1st morning urine to get a concentrated sample for the most accurate results.

I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
