Cervical Cancer Diagnosis After Endometriosis & CIN III History

Question
3.5 years ago, when I was pregnant with my daughter, I was told I had CINIII, there were biopsies taken, they were neg. so we let it go with follow up papsmears every 6 months.  I began having chronic pelvic pain a few months ago and went to see a gyn.  I had a laparoscopy where they found I had endometriosis.  That same week my regular doctor informed me that I had another severely abnormal pap.  My gyn took biopsies that confirmed cancerous cells.  I had a cold knife conization two weeks ago.  I have both squamous and adenocarcinoma.  My gyn removed most of my cervix, and found that there was less than one mm of cancer free cells at the very tip of the cone, where there is adenocarcinoma.  He has referred me to a gyn oncologist, I have an apointment with him on April 7th.  His recomendation was a hysterectomy, I initialy said no way.  I am 22, with only one child.  My gyn said ther is a possibility of doing a second conization, but he doesnt know if there is enough of my cervix left to get enough cancer free cells to feel comfortable with.  Also, because he removed so much of my cervix the first time, there would be a high risk of miscarraige at around 18 weeks.  Also, he said that becuase the adenocarcinoma is so high in my cervix, it would be very difficult to detect a reuccurance with a regular pap test.  From what I understand, because I have endometriosis, I would have to have an abdominal hysterectomy.  I want to avoid more surgery if possible.  Any input would be helpful.  Thank you for your time.

Answer
Dear Falon,   It is not because of the enodmetriosis that they are suggesting the abdominal hysterectomy, it is because of the cancer and this is standard practice with cervical cancer inorder to make sure or to check for metastasis at the time of surgery....

You have to think of the ONE child you have, and if you do not treat this correctly NOW, you may not have another chance and then where will your child be.....  No one who has children or a child should consider anything else, but to get rid of ALL of the cancer and then have follow-up chemotherapy to make sure all cancer cells are destroyed...

thank you,    karen
