QuestionI had a DNC on Feb 4/08. I was 12 weeks plus but the baby died at 8 1/2 weeks. I was bleeding for 1 week and then spotting for one week. I did a home pregnancy test on Feb 28th and it still showed a HCG level. I did another one on Saturday March 1st and it was finaly negative. My question is: how long does it take to get a period after the HCG level has gone back down to zero?
AnswerPenny,
First off, let me say how sorry I am for your loss.
As far as your question goes, there is not an exact answer. Normally, once an HCG level is <5 (non-pregnant level), your body will start a new menstrual cycle.
Most women experience their first period within 4-6 weeks following a drop in their HCG.
Once again I am sorry for your loss. Please let me know if you have any other questions!
