Postpartum Abdominal Exercises for a Flatter Tummy (No Floor Required)

Question
Hello
I had my son by c-section in September. My tummy went down
quite quickly, but I have noticed that it looks a bit
pouchy.
Are there any exercises that I can do to help tone up my
tummy which don't involve having to lie down on the floor?!

Many thanks
sarah

Answer
While most postpartum abdominal reconditioning and core exercises are done prone (on the back) there are variations you can do either standing, in the quadruped (all fours) position, or on a large fitness ball.

You should start by reconditioning your deepest abdominal muscle, your Transverse Abdominis. There are two great standing exercises on my web site for this, that can be done either during or after pregnancy. Go to: http://befitmom.com/strength_training.html and scroll down to the bottom of the page.
