Understanding Placenta Previa in the Second Trimester: Symptoms & What to Expect
QuestionAt approx 10-11 weeks, i experience a large bleed, which measured 9x5.6x1.8 Another ultrasound was done at around 13 weeks, where the measurements of the SCH was 8x8.6x1.2 I am now beginning week 17 and have an ultrasound in a couple weeks for the "18-20 week scan". My healthcare provider has given me no indication to avoid usual activities. I am just wondering what I should be concerned about now that I am in my 2nd trimester.
Thanks
AnswerDear Amy
It is hard for a 9x6 cm haematoma to disappear all of a sudden. Although diminished in size at 13 weeks and this indicates cessation of bleeding, it is still big. My advise is to avoid all forms of exercise, household activities, sex and similar activities till your next exam. If the haematoma disappears by then you can resume your normal life activities but carefully. The reason that lead to SCH may lead to its recurrence.
Good Luck
