Pregnancy & Conception Questions: A Newlywed's Concerns

Question
Hello Dr. Kandeel,

I am Jihan Yehya, a newly married woman, who knows very little concerning pregnancy, and methods to try to get pregnant!
Thus, i am sorry in advance if any of my questions sound a little bit outgoing or if my story is too long.

Me and my husdband have been trying stay away from pregnancy at least for our first year of marriage. Our relationship was on the 14th of November, and my period was on the 6th November and ended on the 10th of November. Unfortunately, I have been taking Norlevo (much like plan B one step, as it contains 1.5 mg of  Levonorgestrel) for the past two months a lot. I took about 5 pills, on different occurrences in the last two months, and my last was on the 14th of November.
I have noticed the shifting in my period timing and the amount of bleeding, that the last bleeding i had was on 28th November, for 3 days and it was brown blood that made me think its implantation bleeding!
Last Wednesday 14th December (after a month from the relationship) I did a blood test and the result came out as 0.1 mIU/mL). I have no pregnancy symptoms, other than the period shifting and amount.
Do you think there is still a chance for a pregnancy???
Thank you!

Answer
Dear Jihan

I hope this finds you well.

With a level of 0.1 mIU/ml hCG and no symptoms, it is almost impossible to be pregnant. For a newly married couple with regular sexual relationship, it is always better to be on regular pills that is taken daily. The period shifting and decreased amount of blood may be to the irregular use of pills.
If your hCG is high, I would have recommended a vaginal ultrasound to exclude ectopic pregnancy but with such a low level, this is not requested at the present time

Please feel free to contact me again should you have any further questions

Good Luck
