I have had an iud in for 2.5 years and i got it out 3 months ago cause i did not like it anymore since than i have had 2 periodes one on Sept 12 for 7 days and i started on Oct 11th (day 3 now)I wouold like to have another child ( mine is 4 now) but i have no clue when i ovulate how to tell if i ovulate people say its 14 days before your next cycle but having the iud would that mess it up? 4 days before my cycle came i felt a dull ache on my left side overy for about 2 hrs ( on and off) is that an indication of it? Sorry for all the questions its just i really want another child and am so confussed.

Thank you in advance for all the advice you can give me.

Answer
It looks like you have about 30 day cycles, maybe 29 days.  People are generally right because a perfect cycle does have ovulation at around 14 days before your next period.  But this can vary due to your health and fertility.  The shorter the time between ovulation and your period starting, the more difficult it is to get pregnant.

If your dull ache only 4 days before your period IS an indication of ovulation (I can't guarantee that) then you have a problem.  It might have been caused by some other condition besides ovulation.

The best way to figure out if you are ovulating (and when you get pregnant), is to take your temperature first thing in the morning (before you get out of bed).  You have to buy a Basal Body Temperature thermometer not a fever thermometer.

It only takes a couple of minutes.  Then you write that number down on a graph so you can see what the changes are each day.  Ovulation occurs when the temperature rises by at least .4 degrees and stays up.  When you are graphing your temperature you will see that it fluctuates, but after the rise it will fluctuate above the range that it fluctuated before ovulation.

The day that it rises is the day of ovulation (or close enough to that day) and you can get pregnant for about 5 days before the rise and for only a day or so after the rise in temperature.  When you get pregnant, the temperature will not fall back down, so that if you miss your period, you will know that it is because you are pregnant.  You won't even have to go buy a pregnancy test!

I don't think the IUD messes up your menstrual cycle but it could if there were hormones in it.  Any foreign body inside your body can cause complications, so it might be a time of patience while you wait for your natural health to return again.
