In a perfect cycle, you would begin your period on day 1 of a 28 day cycle and ovulate on day 14 (when you are able to get pregnant). However, most women are not this precise, so in order to know when you ovulated and therefore were able to get pregnant, would mean that you have to have been keeping track of your cycles and using a method to know when you were ovulating.
