Low-Lying Placenta & Low Blood Pressure: Understanding Risks & Hope

Question
I was diagnosed with a low laying placenta and now I have low blood pressure..my doctor informed me that I have a 30% chance of a live birth..but the pregnancy books all say not to worry...that this is only a problem when it comes to the 8th month and even then...only a problem for the actual birth.(Possible cesarian).should be worried about losing my 15 week baby?(I have no bleeding or pain)

Answer
Alana,

I am not medically qualified so I can not give you medically accurate answers.

I think, a low lying placenta is quite safe until the later stages in pregnancy. I believe if it is very low, then it causes some risk for the birth as it blocks the birth canal, and so usually doctors will perform a cesarian section. The doctors will probably keep a close eye on you, and I am sure they will do their very best for you and your unborn. As I said I am not medically qualified, and I really do not know the risks involved in a low lying placenta. For accurate aswers it may be best to book n appointment for you to spek with your midwife.

Try not to worry, and look after yourself.

Kind regards,

Christine
