Questiondoes she help me push??
AnswerDear Alex,
If you mean, "does she direct me and tell me when to push", then, yes, she can help you follow your body's cues.
Midwives are known for their sensitivity to their client's bodies and signals, so she will be able to guide you in what you need to do to birth your baby.
What she won't do is tell you to push harder or longer than you feel comfortable.
Many hospitals employ the "purple pushing" method, where, no matter who the mother is or how she is laboring, they will make her push for six to ten seconds, holding her breath. This is not good because during that time, no oxygen is getting to your baby!
Please let me know if this answers your question, or if you need more clarification.
Feel free to ask about any other topic, too!
Good luck,
Sheva
