QuestionHello, my husband is taking an antibiotic, SMZ/TMP DS 800-160 TAB LANN which is the generic for BACTRIM, He has been taking it all week. This morning when he got up, he went and had some blood tests ran, but did not take the BACTRIM before he left. Since, he has been taking the BACTRIM twice a day for three days, will the BACTRIM in his system have an effect on the blood tests? He is having his psa checked as well as his cholestrol, thyroid and several other things. Thank you.
AnswerHi Connie, I'd be glad to try and answer your question. No, I don't believe that the Bactrim will affect any blood tests that you husband had. Unless, of course, the doctor was checking for a blood infection, which is unlikely.
