Understanding Abnormal Blood Test Results with Narcolepsy

Question
Hi Samantha.  I'm a 37yo female who just had some routine bloodwork for a
physical.  I currently take Provigil 200mg 2x daily, Xyrem 2.5g 2x @ night, for
narcolepsy.  A couple of things came back flagged, and I was wondering if
you could shed some light.

On the Basic Metabolic Profile:
Na was at 144, with normal range listed as 134-142 MEQ/L
Calcium was 9.6, with normal range listed as 8.4-10.1 MG/DL (borderline)
Creatinine was .9 with norm range listed as .3-1.2 MG/DL (borderline)

Hepatic Function Profile:
ALT was at 12, normal ranges listed @ 18-48 U/L (low)
On a previous test dated 7/25/08 my ALT was at 8
All other results appeared to be within the normal ranges, or were not
flagged by the tech.  If you could offer any information, I would really be
grateful.
Thanks,
Beth

Answer
Hi Beth.  Your sodium is fine at 144, even though the "normal" range is listed at 132-142.  That's actually lower of a range than is for the hospital I work at, there it's 135-145.  Your calcium and creatinine levels are fine.  As for ALT (a liver enzyme) your number is also fine.  Levels of ALT are only of significance if they are elevated.
