Understanding Your Non-Fasting Blood Sugar: What's Normal?

I had a diabete's test at my local drug store,the test where they prick your finger.
My reading was 83 without fasting.I ate a pastry in the morning.
Is that good or is that a little below normal.

Hi Debbie. Your blood sugar reading of 83 is considered normal (normal is about 70-110). But since you weren't fasting, the reading can't be considered totally accurate. If you are concerned about diabetes, then it would be ideal for you to be fasting for 10-12 hours before the test.
