QuestionHello,
I am from St. Louis, MO. I am 28 years old. You had answered a question for me a week ago. Thank you it was very helpful.
I would also like to know how similar is each conception on Clomid. I have a 15 month old daughter who we conceived on Clomid 150mg. It took us three cycles. I ovulated on cycle day 23. Will I most likely conceive again on dose 150mg?
Also, what are the chances of twin on Clomid for the second time? Is it the same every time you use Clomid?
(A little background: I only had a few period a year before Clomid. My husband and I tried for 4 years to conceive before trying Clomid in Apr. of 06. We didn't have any testing done. My OB/GYN does not do ultrasounds during my rounds of Clomid.) What other signs are there of ovulation other than the spike in charting, the OPK kits, and the cervical mucous (which I haven't ever had a change to the egg-white texture).
Thank you very much for your time and help.
AnswerDear Kati,
Hello again. Basically, each cycle is a complete new and independent cycle. The previous ones do not influence it. The chances for pregnancy in your age group, on Clomid to restore normal ovulation, is the same as your natural chances of pregnancy. That is 18% per cycle. The chances of twins on Clomid is 12% overall. Undortunately, the disadvantage of not looking with the ultrasound is that you don't know how many follicles your have produced to ovulate, and you don't know when to have intercourse. The sextuplets and septuplets that have been broadcast in the news were all ovulation induction cycles by general OB/GYN's who didn't look. Otherwise, the cycles would have been cancelled.
If you are going to monitor for ovulation on your own, the easiest and most effective method is the OPK. Temperature charts are a pain, because you have to be religious about taking your temperature immediately upon awakening in the morning. Cervical mucus checks are also difficult and unreliable.
I hope that answers your questions.
