QuestionI recently finished my first cycle of Clomid. I used it day #5-9 and had an ultrasound to calculate ovulation and used timed intercourse. I am now 2 days past when I should have started my period and am experiencing some spotting of brown-ish blood. I am also having slight cramping but not like a regular period. I had a miscarriage earlier in the year while not on Clomid. Is it normal to have strange period/spotting after taking Clomid? Could this be a sign of implantation?
AnswerHello Andi from the U.S.,
It is not implantation, as that would have occurred several days ago, but it could be an early pregnancy. We see a fairly high spotting rate with infertility treatments. I am surprised you have not had a pregnancy test yet, but I would recommend that you have one soon.
In addition, progesterone supplementation, especially if used vaginally can cause spotting.
The only bleeding I worry about in early pregnancy is heavy red bleeding like a period.
Good Luck,
