QuestionHi, i am in my late 30s, and have been on clomid for 2 cycles, the first use i had my period on the 28 days (normal cycle for me) and on the second month, the period came 34 days, can clomid delay periods, and for how many cycles can i use clomid continuously.
Thanks
AnswerHello Esther from South Africa,
Clomid does not usually delay periods. It is most likely that the Clomid was not effective in the second cycle. Did you ovulate on the clomid? Your doctor should be evaluating you in the cycle to see if you are responding to that dose and when you are going to ovulation. We call this ovulation induction. Please check out my blog to see how I do and recommend to do ovulation induction cycles.
Clomid should not be used in consecutive months because it will block the estrogen receptors and prevent fertility. It should be on an every other month basis. Also, we don't recommend Clomid for more than 4-6 ovulatory cycles. If you are not successful but then, you need to use a different treatment and that will depend on the problem(s).
