Changes in Menstrual Cycle & Vaginal Bleeding: What Could It Mean?

Question
Hi,
I'm 43 years old, and a few months ago began noticing changes in my menstrual cycle. The blood flow will stop and start over a period of about ten days, with a lot of large clots toward the end. And I also have mid-cycle spotting at times. A few times I have had an odd, fleshy looking lump (about quarter sized and beige-ish in color) fall out of my vagina while using the toilet. I have had no pain. At a routine, partial physical I had a month ago the PA said my uterus felt a little enlarged. I haven't had a complete gynological exam for two years due to lack of insurance, but I know I need to.  I am just wondering if the things that have been happening could all just be perimenopausal symptoms, or a problem with fibroids (which I've had for years, but they weren't large enough to be concerning during my last pregnancy eight years ago), or is this something I should get to a doctor about right away?

Answer
First of all thank you for your question, now I would greatly recommend that you go to a clinic. Where you can possibly get checked out for free or "low cost" your symptom's doesn't sound like any ones that I know of for cervical cancer. But let's not take any chances here and go get checked out to be sure. Also try to contact your local social service organization to see where they can help you get insurance help.

It does sound like something unsual is going on with your body and you do not need to ignore it.

Hope that this helped you

Sincerely Yours
