Thank you for your earlier answer. It doesn't fit the situation I am thinking of.This concerns a client who was readmitted to hospital when the client began acting delusional.
The client's condition worsened over night and client began to have a high fever and difficulty breathing. At this point the client was put into a drug induced coma and died that same day at 9:15 p.m.
I am just wondering what the purpose of inducing a coma may have been at that time.
I do not expect a definitive response, just a sense of what the doctors may have taken into consideration.
thank you again

Answer
They may have done it because of the high fever.... was it more than 105 degrees?  At that level, the body shuts down and it can do serious damage... that may have been why they elected to do the coma.

If you need add'l info, please give me as much information as you can.

Thanks..........
