Induced Labor & Long-Term Effects on Child Health: A Personal Account

Question
My question to you is about child health who has been delivered by inducing 4-5 days before the due date.In my case,it was my first time and I was inexperienced.I asked the doctor to induce me 4-5 days before my actual due date during my husband's vacation but now I'm bearing the consequences. After my delivery I couldn't breastfeed my baby  as there was close to nil breastmilk produced.I could only bottlefeed her. Now, she's 3 yrs old but look fragile. It appears as if her face is not growing according to age ( it looks as that of a 2 yr old in size).I dont know whether she'll grow to full potential like a normal child.Kindly, advice me on how to help my child.

Thankyou,

Answer
While it is possible for inductions to carry some unintended consequences, usually these occur within a few months of the birth (increased neonatal deaths, increased c-sections, etc.).  It's possible that a traumatic birth could have caused long-term neurological damage, but only a neurologist would be able to tell you that after a thorough examination.  A mother's instincts are usually right, so if you feel that there is a problem, you should definitely follow up with some health care specialists to see if you can pinpoint the problem and its source.  If you don't like the answers you get, go for a second opinion (or a third, or even a fourth).  It took me nine months after my first suspicions to get my daughter diagnosed with cerebral palsy; she was 7 years old before we got her diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder, and only now at almost 9 years old are her doctors beginning to admit that they don't know what's wrong with her eyes and she may be permanently visually impaired.  So I know how frustrating it is to KNOW that something is wrong and to keep being told everything is okay.  You have to be persistent, and don't give up.

Good luck!
