I got my first periods in august and in october i found out that i was  pregnant.my friends advised me to take misoprostol and get rid of the pregnancy. as i was still studying i did so and the tissue was expelled immediately. as my periods resumed the next month i did not go for a d&c, also in january 2005 had a cooper t inserted which i took out on in march 2007. my periods were normal after the abortion working like clockwork and there was no trouble. the purpose of my anxiety is i am not getting pregnant again and have been trying for an tear. the sperm count of my husband is 50% motile. my fallopian tubes are in very good condition as i had a vaginal ultrasound done too.

Answer
Hello, siya,

Please know that I am not a doctor. I am simply someone who has talked to a lot of women and done a lot of research.

Are you currently using any birth control? You should have gotten pregnant by now if everything is normal, although there are plenty of women who don't get pregnant quickly. There is no literature that I have been able to find that says that anybody has investigated what effect misoprostol has on future fertility. The manufacturer says a pregnant woman should never take it, but it's not because it is known to impair fertility.

The Copper T can also affect fertility. Sometimes there are hormones in IUDs that mess up a woman's hormonal balance. And copper is also not good for a woman's body. Furthermore, IUDs can cause infections, and some infections impair fertility. They can cause things like pelvic inflammatory disease, for example.

Although it sounds like your husband's sperm count should not be a problem, there may be reasons why he is unable to get you pregnant. Here is one statement, for example:

"Certain medications such as Tagament, ketoconazole, and erythromycin. Talk to your doctor about any medications including over the counter and herbal medications or vitamins you are taking."

And sometimes, for whatever reason, a woman will only get pregnant so many times. It's always possible you were destined to only get pregnant twice in your lifetime.

Nobody would be able to tell you why you are having trouble getting pregnant, over the internet. You really will need to go to a doctor and let him explore the possible reasons. Good luck!
