QuestionHi,
I'm not sure if you will be able to answer my question but it's worth a shot.
I am a male of almost 17 years old (I'll be 17 in about two months) and I am concerned about my height.
I have yet throughout my adolescence seen a significant growth spurt, despite my tendency to mature faster than most with regard to puberty (i was beginning to mature at 11 and 12, much before my peers).
My mom is 5-1 and my dad is about 5-6.5 - 5-7. I am almost 17 and am very health conscious, i exercise 5-7 times a week with 3 or 4 weight training sessions (nothign too heavy to stunt my growth), and because of this routine for the last year, I have become very lean and healthy.
However, I am barely above 5-5 and have only grown 3/4inches in this last year, in a span in which all my peers have grown 3-4 inches or more.
My question is that do I still have a growth potential to reach my goal of 5-7 or 5-8? Or have I stopped growing because I have already matured?
thanks
asad
AnswerHi Asad,
When you turned 15, your long bone growth stopped. You will have negligible growth in your spine till age 22. I would doubt that you will gain 2-3 inches in height in the future. You are a "victim" of your parents genetics. They are of small stature and you will be also.
