HGH and Post-Op Recovery: Considerations for Cheek Implant Healing

Question
hello,
im a 30 year old male . im planning on having my silicone cheek implants removed. im very concerned about the skin "snapping" back into place  during the post op healing process.  I have been readin on growth hormone benefits to skil healing and had an idea to  use a small amount of hgh  for a very short period during the healing time. Iwas wondering you thoughts on this and if you know any dr.'s in ny well versed in growth hormone that I can discuss this with.
thank you

Answer
Mark,

human Growth Hormone (rhGH) should never be administered strictly for cosmetic reasons especially in someone as young as you and never without first getting serum levels of IGF-1 drawn.  In practice doctors usually never prescribe GH to anyone with an IGF-1 over 160ng/dL.  There were studies of using GH post-operative for major surgery in an effort to reduce recovery time and speed up healing, however there was shown not to be any evidence that it was successful and revealed some added complications.  Glucose intolerance and increased cranial pressures are some side effects of rhGH therapy as is acromegaly especially of the jaw bone.

Bottom line I would not recommend this course of action or therapy.
