Understanding Amenorrhea: Causes, Symptoms & When to See a Doctor

Question
Hi - I don't know if you have any knowledge in gyn. problems or not.  I didn't find anyone in AllExperts that could answer GYN questions except for one person who was maxed out.  Sooo... I chose you!  :-)  So, if you have any knowledge in this area here goes -

I have been doctoring over the past few years with a wonderful doctor that I have had for years.  I have quit getting my period.  This all started about 3 years ago.  I would only have 2-3 periods a year.  I was in my early 40's at that time. My dr. did all sorts of tests and nothing came up as to why I was having this problem.  I was not in any pre-menopausal stage, was not pregnant, etc.  My MD put me on birth control for 3 months at a time and then when I was on that I would get my period.  Since that time I have moved from that area and have not had a period for over a year now.  Is this something I should be concerned about?  I feel fine and don't appear to have any problems.  I just worry that something is wrong.  Belive me, I sure don't mind NOT having a period!  hahah!  My dr. always suggested a hysterectomy, but I didn't feel a need to do that since there was nothing she could find wrong.  I am not a huge fan of having surgery.  My question to you is....  at my age of 45, not having any menopause signs, yet, am I at any health risks by NOT having my period?  I went through so many tests before that I just hate to go through all of that again and find out nothing... one more time!  Just curious what your thoughts are on this.

Thanks!
Judy

Answer
Actually you are too young to stop periods but are likely too high on omega 6 plant oil which shuts down your ovaries and pituitary axis. My patients take 3000mg of omega 3 three times a day to restore their normal gyn health within 3-4 months if OK with their gyn.
