Questionshe has only eaten salad 2 times;(1st time 3 weeks AGO and this past wednesday, both times at school for lunch time. she has eaten hot dogs and pizza at school and chocolate milk and she has been fine. guess will have her checked on the other 2 things on tuesday, when we visit her dr. IF she is "playing" me, i make her go to school anyways(like on thursday)and the school calls me at work(its hard to get her when im at work, thats why she wont call me), thats why i keep her home when she says she dont feel well. if i dont; she says I dont care that she gets sick. then i feel really bad that she threw up at school. when she told me in the morning she wasnt feeling well. then she is too scared to call home(then I would never believe her) when to believe a teen IF they are truly sick(even if its just the flu bug) not only does her stomach hurt, she feels nausea, headaches and she sleeps when she gets home at 2pm till i wake her up at 7pm then goes back to bed at 10pm till 6 30am for school. should iron be check(for her tiredness)? your opinion has helped too. thanks.

i have a 16yr daughter.live in ashtabula, ohio;doesnt seem to have it 3 months for summer break.but, on thursday oct, 5. 2006. she was sent home from school by the school nurse for her stomachache. she had this 3 weeks ago, took her to her doctor-prescribed stomach acid to help. but now its back. dont know what else to do for her. she also has headache, nausea, very sleepy, some dizziness, when carrying school books during the day its on her stomach (going up and down stairs). she usually takes 2 to 3 days off from school to "get over" this. besides over the counter stomach remedies, is there anything that can be done.
she goes to bathroom fine, no problems,

Hi Carol,
Unfortunately this may be a manifestation of "school phobia" or anxiety. I don't know enough about her to say for sure but when this sort of thing happens during school and not during vacation, one thinks of this first.
Of course she certainly could have stomach problems. It might be a good idea to have her doctor order an Helicobacter Pylori test to see if she has this bacteria growing in her stomach. That can cause these symptoms and can be effectively treated.

Hi CArol,
I'd hate to suggest that she's "playing you" but you have to consider that based on how her symptoms occur. Until proven otherwise, I would ask her to continue the maalox and go to school stomach ache and all. Try to get ahold of your doctor as soon as you can and explain how her symptoms come and go with school.

Hi Carol,
I really don't see the salad and or dressing as the problem. With the recent issue surrounding Spinach,I can see your concern, but why all of a sudden would this be an issue for her as I would guess she's eaten this before.. Mixing milk with salad shouldn't cause trouble unless the food was bad. If food is a concern, then she should be checked for Hepatitis A.
AnswerHi Carol,
it IS hard to separate real from made up. I can see hr saying "you don't care" but we both know that isn't true. She's just tryig to make you feel guilty. You'll have to deal with that in your own way.
Checking her iron would be OK and also Epstein Barr Virus should be checked in this age group as well. I don't know if I asked, but any chance of her being pregnant?
