Frequent Croup Attacks in Children with Asthma: Understanding the Connection
QuestionMy son will be 6 tomorrow. He had croup 3 weeks ago and we went to the ER. He has it again. He did the same thing last year. Why does he get croup so often? He has asthma and was nearly hospitalized when he was 3 months old with a RSV.
Answerwith his asthma... his airways are more "reactive" meaning they will narrow down... the muscle in the airways works too much in him, one of the components of asthma. RSV is probably a setup for asthma in childhood also. The good news is he should grow out of this with time...
